It’s been a long road to getting back into her ‘Bachelorette’ shape, but Trista Sutter is telling the world how she dropped 45 pounds of mommyhood weight. In an interview given exclusively to PopEater by Life & Style magazine (on newsstands today), Sutter says slimming down after her second child was way harder than the first, and that she’s back to feeling “confident – well, at least sort of confident – in a bikini.” How confident is she? Enough to rock a bikini for the magazine, as you’ll see in the photo below. Her interview after the jump!

Sutter put on nearly 43 pounds before giving birth in April, a big jump from her normally 110-pound frame. Currently, she’s rebounded back to 108 pounds.

“It was harder to lose weight this time around … I gained 10 more pounds this time,” Sutter tells Life & Style. By “this time,” she means during her pregnancy with her second daughter, 6-month-old Blakesley, as opposed to 2-year-old Max.

Sutter says it was tough getting back to exercising due to her Caesarian section surgery with Blakesley. “For obvious reasons, my abs were the one area that didn’t jump right back into position after I had Blakesley, so I’m still really focused on working on them and getting more toned,” Sutter says.

Sutter also reveals that her eating habits have changed dramatically.

“I had gestational diabetes with Max, so I really had to watch what I ate at the end of that pregnancy. With Blakesley, I didn’t have diabetes, so I went all out – I ate everything.”

Sutter says when it comes to her diet, she’s all about moderation.

“I really believe that you shouldn’t deprive yourself – just getting a taste of something sweet keeps away that urge to binge.”

Even though she admits she hasn’t “really struggled with my weight all my life,” Sutter tells Life & Style that it was “definitely a struggle” dropping the weight the second time around.

“I’m definitely my own worst critic … I’m very critical of how I look and feel, mainly because I want to feel sexy for my husband,” Sutter says, referring to her ‘Bachelorette’ hubby Ryan Sutter

“I feel confident – well, at least sort of confident – in a bikini… And I’m proud that I’ve gotten to the point where I can fit into my old clothes!” Sutter declares.

Notes On “Unlimited Power” by Anthony Robbins

Posted on Thu ,03/12/2009 by rainbowretail

Whats better then a hot chick in a bikini? A hot chick in a bikini with a brain! Give your friends and fans, more then just a endless voyage of the eye; give them a earful! it begins with taking responsibility for your INNER development. You know the same way you work your body to keep it toned? You can tone your brain too! Brian Tracy says your brain in like a bucket of knowledge with a small leak at the bottom. So it is necessary to keep putting new information into your brain everyday!

That being said, I’d like to share my notes on “Unlimited Power” by Anthony Robbins. Enjoy!

Anthony Robbins – Unlimited Power

Notes by Vincent Chiofalo

The quality of my life is the quality of my communication:

The quality of every experience is how you communicate to

#1 – yourself.

#2 – others.

7% of communication is words

38% of communication is tonality (the tone of your speaking)

55% of communication is physiology (body posture, facial expression, breathing pattern)

Tony’s Story

Jim Roan (personal development speaker changed Tony Robbins life when 17yrs old)

Eventually developed Personal Power

Personal Power = The Ability To Take Action

Most successful people do not necessarily have the most knowledge, or anything, etc… they have personal power (the ability to take action)

Tells story of Kernel Sanders. He was turned down 1009 times before someone finally bought his recipe.

You must try until you succeed. You must get your self to take action until you succeed. Try again. Try again. Try again. THAT IS PERSONAL POWER.

It doesn’t matter how much intelligence you have. It matters how much action you can produce.

Affirmation without discipline is the beginning of delusion.

Affirmation with discipline creates miracles.

(behind your faith there must be works)

Steps To Personal Power

Step #1 – Energy

Do everything you can to create more energy

(Excitement, Exercise, Meditation, Fun, Motivation, etc…)

Step #2 – Skill

Skill #1 – The skill or ability to define exactly what it is that you want.

Skill #2 – The skill or ability to define what others want and then fill those needs quickly and elegantly.

(If you can find what other people want, and you can fill their needs truly then there will be no problem being able to fill your own wants and needs and desires)

The most powerful tools that Tony knows of for defining human needs and being able to fill those needs quickly and elegantly come from the technology known as:

Nero Linguistic Programming = NLP.

Nero – Nervouse System

Linguistic – language

Programming – a system that you install to consistently produce a result.

NLP is the science of how language (both verbal and non-verbal) affects your nervous system.

Your ability to do anything (walk on fire or make a million dollars) comes from your ability to manipulate your nervous system.

NLP is the result of two men who were studying how to most effectively master the use of human communication to produce results in other human beings. Dr. John Grinder and Richard Bandler.

Grinder was a linguist.

Banlder was a gestalt therapist and a computer expert.

They were bored with what they were doing and they wanted to create greater results in the world. They were both geniuses in their own fields. They decided to study people and find out what made them the very best at what they did. Language, physiology, etc… They discovered these “patterns of excellence” and called then NLP. Tony Robbins become a student and began applying this and produces outstanding results. One example was a 13 year homeless man diggin trash cans who had been on heroine since 8 years old and in one hour Tony was able to change this mans beliefs and change his life.

“Anything that any human being can do, so can I.” We all share the same neurology; it’s a matter of how to use it.

Modeling is the key to duplicating any form of human excellence.

MODELING: Three keys to duplicating any form of human excellence.

Key #1 – Model or duplicate the Belief Systems of the person who is successful.

Beliefs are the filter that turn on or shut off our ability to produce any results in life.

“When you say I ca or I cant, you are right.”

Key #2 – Duplicate that persons Mental Syntax. (Order in sequence.)

“The dog bit Johnny.” “Johnny bit the dog.” Same words different meaning.

Mental Syntax: We all have 5 senses. And the order in which we use these five senses determines what part of brain and nervous system we use and the kind of results we generate.

Example: Some people, see things, and then say something to them self, and that gives them a feeling. Other people try and get a feeling, and then see things, and then say things to them selves.

The order is like a combination lock to the brain. And if you use one order you get one vault open and if you use a different order your going to get a different vault open. So you gotta know how to use your brain and syntax makes a difference.

How do we discover somebody’s syntax so we can model them? One way is to WATCH THEIR EYES. Bandler and Ginder discovered that when you are visualizing you look in a certain place. When you are having deep feelings you look somewhere else. When you are talking to your self you look somewhere else. When you are remembering things you look to one side of your face. When you are making things up, or creating things, you look the other side. This is not body language. Eye movements are science. In order to use those parts of your brain your eyes have to move into those positions.

Key #3 – Duplicate the successful persons physiology.

Posture, breathing patterns, tonality, and facial expressions, muscular tension or relaxation. Physiology will determine how people use their brains.

BECOME A MODELER – I can produce the same results if I discover their:

  1. Beliefs
  2. Mental Syntax
  3. Physiology

25:21

Step #3 – Turning Fear Into Power

The 7 disciplines of success

  1. I always act from personal power (the ability to take action)

Primary block – FEAR. I realize that there are no failures, there are only outcomes. I always succeed in producing a result. Successful people do not believe in failure. There are no failures here are only results. I succeed by learning from every experience. If we change our approach we can make it the way we want it.

  1. I am totally responsible for my world. I create my world. I take charge of my world. Physical and mental actions. I choose my beliefs. I subscribe to whichever beliefs I choose.
  2. I am always stretching. If I cant I must. I am willing to stretch myself on a consistent basis. I put myself on the line so I have to perform. Keys to stretching: #1 make a commitment to yourself to do something that seems beyond your present ability. #2 A public declaration to someone who will not let you off your hook. No way of going back. #3 Model someone who is already producing a result so you know what to do. #4 Do it. And when you don’t know, act as tho you do. “If I did know… I would do this…”
  3. I am committed to unconscious competence. I don’t need to congnitivly understand every detail about everything. I just need to know it works and use it. Pick the fruit and study the roots later.
  1. I always act from personal integrity. Integrity = wholeness. Are you being true to your beliefs? I always lie with integrity (not misleading someone…our beliefs are OUR beliefs and I can choose any belief)

  1. The meaning of communication is the response you get. Its not what you say, its how its heard. Observe the response, and then change your approach. Be committed to the outcome. Change your approach to the communication until you get the result you want. Remember Words, Tonality, and Physiology. Intention means nothing. Results mean everything.
  1. I am committed to do WEIT “What Ever It Takes” to succeed. Without harming another individual. Commitment will pull you through even if you have the fear. Once you become committed to something you will produce that result. The key is to go from “interest” to “commitment”

7 Character Traits Of Super Successful People

  1. They all have passion. A reason. Obsessive purpose. It drives them to get up early and stay up late working.
  2. They all have belief. Belief that they can achieve.
  3. Strategy. People who succeed have a strategy. Organized way of doing things to produce results.
  4. Values. Be clear about what is most important in your life to work together.
  5. Energy Level. How can you maximize?
  6. Bonding Power. Connection with others.
  7. Develop Communication Skills.

History Of The Bikini

Posted on Tue ,01/12/2009 by rainbowretail

Over sixty years ago, the first bikini in the world was introduced at a poolside fashion show in Paris France.  The bikini is now so famous it’s hard to imagine how shocked people once were with skimpy strings on bare bodies. When the little bikini first debuted, its revealing shape made even the french fashion models shy to wear it. In fact they alll out refused to. So the original designer enlisted a stripper to showcase the bikini. The bikini slowly gained acceptance among the public worldwide. It began first on the Riviera, and then in the United States until finally today it is a beachfront staple.

historic bikini

When the bikini was first unveiled in 1946, by no means was it the first time women had worn such revealing garments in public. For example, in the fourth century, Roman gymnasts did in face wear bandeau tops! Bikini bottoms! And anklets much like the ones worn today on beaches in South California and around the globe!

20thcentury-bikini

By the 20th century, The bikini would have been considered a unthinkable design. women who swam at the beach went to great lengths to cover them selves in a conservative manner wearing giant bathing costumes. They even used a giant Victorian contraption they called the “bathing machine” which was a small wood or canvas tent on wheels that one could ease into the water once hidden inside. The woman would enter the machine completely clothed and then changed into her swimming attire inside the canvas hut. Then, either a horse or human helper would pull the cart into the water of the surf. In this manner, a female bather could disembark in the water, and go for a swim without anyone seeing her from the shore.

old_bikini_photoIn the decades to come, the beachfront dress code became more liberal. By 1907, an Australian swimmer and silent film star Annette Kellerman who was a vocal activist for more suitable swimwear was charged legally with indecent exposure for wearing a form fitting, sleeveless tank suit on Boston’s Revere Beach. This legal battle prompted beaches across the nation to lighten up on their dress code regulations. As early as 1915, women in America were wearing what might be considered the first common form fit bathing suit which were one-piece knitted maillots.

The two piece swimsuit had a structured halter top and full coverage bottom which covered the entire navel, hips, and bottom. It got much less criticism than the modern bikini. By the 1940s, movie stars like Rita Hayworth, Ava Gardner, Lana Turner, and others were wearing the two piece bikini, and it was gaining popularity rapidly beaches all over America. The reason why people made such a big deal about a suit that exposed the skin below the belly button as opposed to the suits that covered the entire navel is because of a Hollywood production code known as the “Hays codes” which allowed two piece articles but did not allow navels to be shot on-screen! That means the rib cage, and chest earned a place on many old movies and was exploited for sales, while the bellybutton and lower navel was strictly off limits for film makers.

old sexy bikini

During the 1940’s Kelly Killoren Bensimon details in The Bikini Book. In this book she states that attractive women were called “bombshells,” and anything intense was “atomic.” With that, two Frenchmen created little bikinis as alterantives to the two piece suit in the summer of 1946, and both of these designs received nuclear status nicknames. Designer #1 names Jacques Heim, made a tiny little swimsuit they called the atome. And the other designer named Louis Reard, debuted his own design on July 5th, just four days after the United States began atomic testing on the Bikini Atoll island. With a rather brave display of marketing genius, Reard decided to name his bikini creation “le bikini”, after the bikini atoll testing site which suggested that his design was as historic of an invention as the new A-bomb that the US Military was dropping on the island of Bikini Atoll. It is worthy to note that today, the bikini is still a super star and many of the younger generation are ignorant of the Bikini Atoll testing or the source of this name “bikini”. Most would rather just see Angelina Jolie in a skimpy string bikini then learn the history of a island destroyed by atomic bombs.

Bikini Jokes

Clinton died and was standing at the Pearly Gates.  After knocking at the gates, St. Peter appeared. “Who goes there?” inquired St. Peter. “‘It’s me, Bill Clinton.” “And what do you want?” asked St. Peter. “Lemme in!” replied Clinton. “Soooo,” pondered Peter. “What bad things did you do on earth?” Clinton thought a bit and answered, “Well, I smoked marijuana but you shouldn’t hold that against me because I didn’t inhale. I guess I had extra-marital sex — but you shouldn’t hold that against me because I didn’t really have ’sexual relations.’ And I lied, but I didn’t commit perjury.”
After several moments of deliberation St. Peter replied, “OK, here’s the deal.  We’ll send you someplace where it is very hot, but we won’t call it ‘Hell.’ You’ll be there for an indefinite period of time, but we won’t call it ‘eternity.’ And don’t abandon all hope upon entering, just don’t hold your breath waiting for it to freeze over.”

Alexander Hamilton, Now in Rap Form
by Mangesh Hattikudur – November 27, 2009 – 1:07 PM

Check out In the Heights lyricist and star Lin-Manuel Mirandagiving props to Alexander Hamilton. Not to oversell it, but this is easily the best rap song I’ve heard about the first treasury secretary and his life.

Lin-Manuel is absolute genius. This is an example of a person who is operating at a high level in a specialized field of talent which he developed to demonstrate the potential capability that lie within each and every person. In this particular performance I took special note of Lin’s lyrical work, as well as his choice in topic as he specifically pointed out Alexander Hamilton as his subject for economic discussion. His live performance was very well rated in my book and that kind of live one-take performance ability, I would be VERY interested to hear what he sounds like recorded. Could you imagine letting this guy have a solid hour of audio to rap on? At the pace his lyrics move he could cover a lot of ground. Another note is use of the chain like associated visual images that he was able to paint in your mind with his words. This man is a genuine genius lyricist, with no fear of running out of things to say, I have a feeling he had to cut out the fat just to squeeze in everything he managed in this monolouge as performed at the white House for president Barack Obama and his First Lady.  (Alex – http://www.bikinideals.com/blog )

Hand sanitizer: How it protects you (CNN)

Posted on Mon ,30/11/2009 by rainbowretail

By Elizabeth Landau, CNN
November 27, 2009 9:55 a.m. EST

When soap and water aren’t available, hand sanitizer is a good solution, experts say.

STORY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Up to 80 percent of all infections get spread by hands, according to some estimates
  • Alcohol disrupts the coating of virus and bacteria particles
  • Hand sanitizer does not protect you from whatever you may touch next
  • Washing with soap and water is better, but hand sanitizer is the next best thing

(CNN) — It’s everywhere you look — in schools, in shopping malls, in day care centers, in offices.

Hand sanitizer has become ubiquitous after the outbreak of the novel H1N1 flu virus. But what are its special powers? Does it really protect from viruses? And what’s the best way to use it?

When it comes to choosing a hand sanitizer, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends the ones with alcohol for protecting against the H1N1 flu. The optimum proportion is 60 to 95 percent alcohol, according to this CDC chart showing the relative effectiveness of different types of sanitizers.

Dr. Anne Schuchat, director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, said in a recent briefing that people should wash their hands often with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizers to combat the flu.

“We are beginning to see some declines in influenza activity, but there is still a lot of influenza everywhere,” she said.

The CDC said that according to some estimates, up to 80 percent of all infections get spread by hands.

If neither soap and water nor alcohol-based products are available, other hand sanitizers that do not contain alcohol may be useful, the CDC Web site said.

Hand sanitizers are effective against both bacteria and viruses, health experts say.

The active ingredient in hand sanitizer — usually alcohol — disrupts the coating of virus and bacteria particles. By damaging the outside of the particle, the virus becomes deactivated, says Andrew Pekosz, associate professor of microbiology and immunology at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health.

The sanitizer works on contact, meaning it’s only effective on the parts of your hands that it touches. That means if you miss a spot between your fingers, there could still be viruses or bacteria in that place, said Dr. Lisa Bernstein, an assistant professor at Emory University School of Medicine.

“You have to cover whole surface of hands and allow it to dry,” she said.

Read more coverage of the H1N1 outbreak

The process of putting it on your hands makes the sanitizer work against these viruses almost immediately. But it does not protect you against whatever you might touch next, Pekosz said.

During a regular workday, using hand sanitizer three to five times randomly would be good, Pekosz said. If you’re sneezing or coughing, you should use it more frequently.

Here’s another rule of thumb: Whenever you go into a new room for a meeting or whatnot, put some on before and after, he said.

Scrubbing your hands with soap and water — the CDC recommends for 15 to 20 seconds — is better than using hand sanitizer, experts say.

That’s because washing physically removes the virus particles, instead of just deactivating them, Pekosz said. But it’s hard for people to wash their hands that often, he said. The CDC recommends using hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available.

Because of the general way that hand sanitizers interact with bacteria and viruses, there is little chance of resistance developing in the way that bacteria no longer respond to some antibiotics, he said.

Beyond the practicality of it, there is also an emotional importance to hand sanitizer, Bernstein said. But if you don’t use the sanitizer correctly, it does give a false sense of security.

“It gives you not just the feeling that you’re doing something, but if you are using it effectively, you can do something,” she said.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————–

I prefer to wash hands with soap and water as often as possible. That is easy for me because I work at home. For times when soap and water are not available I opt for the use of hand sanitizer gel or sanitation wipes. I especially appreciate the recent implementation of sanitizing wipes at the grocery store used for sanitizing the shopping cart before use.

Are Your Kids Watching Too Much TV At Daycare?

“they’re spending almost half their waking hours in front of the screen,” he said. “At that level of viewing, it really begs the question of what are these children not doing? What are they missing out on during the five hours they’re passively watching TV?”

This is the same concern that comes to my mind. Obviously the more we expose our kids to opportunities to develop social skills and communication skills the more successfully they will develop these skills.

But what I don’t understand is why the TV is not being used as a tool for education. Why not use DVD’s as curriculum? We could have fun colorful, addictive, cartoons that teach our children the same lessons as “How To Win Friends And Influence People” or “Think And Grow Rich”. I know Dr. Wayne Dyer has some excellent childrens books designed to increase self-esteem. What about all the other fantastic and beautiful ways of thinking he has to teach? Who is to say any child is too young to be exposed to these concepts that create greater emotional intelligence and social skills. Things kids can actually use as opposed to the 12 years of nonsense that the public system will be distracting our impressionable youth with throughout their most important developmental stages…

Will cutting back on teen Pap tests result in more STDs?

Posted on Mon ,30/11/2009 by rainbowretail

This blog has been posted in response to an article by Denise Mann for CNN located at http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/11/29/pap.test.teens.std/index.html#comment-24308281
—————————————————-
The issue here is the fear that teen girls may misinterpret the new guidelines and miss out on important discussions with a gynecologist.

I have opened this blog up for open disussion for our users. Please comment.

———————————————————————————-

(Health.com) — Teen girls can skip Pap tests, according to new guidelines that say women should start cervical cancer screening at age 21. But some experts are concerned that rates of sexually transmitted diseases or unplanned pregnancies could increase without the Pap test to prompt a doctor’s visit.

As it stands, as many as one in four U.S. teenage girls has had an STD at some point in her life, often soon after she becomes sexually active, according to research published this week in Pediatrics.

“I am concerned that without the recommendation for young women to get Pap smears early on, they will lose important opportunities to seek advice and to learn about their health — particularly their sexual health — at a time in their lives when they need it most,” says Kimberly Spector, an adolescent-health educator in Los Angeles, California. “Regardless of the tests performed during a gynecologist visit, the conversation regarding sexual health risks and preventative measures can be very informative and empowering for young patients.”

In the past, women were told to start Pap tests, which can detect abnormal cells in the cervix, three years after becoming sexually active or at age 21 — whichever came first. However, these abnormal cells often go away on their own, particularly in young women. If they don’t, such cells grow so slowly that catching them at age 21 is still early enough to remove them before they become cancerous. And catching them sooner could lead to unnecessary tests and treatments that sometimes damage the cervix, increasing the risk for a premature birth later in life.

The new guidelines still recommend that girls who are under 21 see a gynecologist; they just don’t need Pap tests, according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. The fear, however, is that some teens may misinterpret the new rules and miss out on important discussions about contraception and protection against STDs such as gonorrhea, bacterial vaginosis, chlamydia, and human papillomavirus.

“If women hear that they no longer need Pap tests annually or until they are 21, perhaps they wouldn’t seek any preventive health care, and whether this results in decreased screening and identification of chlamydia and other STDs remains to be determined, but it is concerning,” says Harold Wiesenfeld, M.D., the director of the division of reproductive infectious diseases at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, in Pennsylvania.

Health.com: The most common STDs: HPV, herpes, and chlamydia

Many STDs, including chlamydia and gonorrhea, have no symptoms. “Unless screened, young women will remain undiagnosed, untreated, and at risk for complications, including pelvic inflammatory disease, which results in infertility,” says Wiesenfeld, who is also an associate investigator at Magee-Womens Research Institute, in Pittsburgh. “[Still] the Pap test is not the 100 percent trigger to do chlamydia screening,” he says. “We need to do a better job about STD screening overall.”

Teens who are sexually active should use contraception and take steps (such as using condoms) to prevent STDs, even if they don’t need Pap tests, says Alina Salganicoff, Ph.D., the vice president and director of women’s health policy for the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation, an advocacy group based in Menlo Park, California.

Health.com: Who’s most at risk for STDs?

“We are going to have to pay special attention to how we educate our adolescent patients about contraception and STD prevention,” she says.

However, most experts agree that Pap tests are indeed unnecessary for younger women and that the new guidelines will not put them at risk. Most also agree that the new guidelines are not an effort to limit care.

“I do not fear the consequences because these guidelines are well thought out and give us a great opportunity to focus on who is at risk for cervical cancer,” says Bobbie Gostout, M.D., the chair of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the Mayo Clinic, in Rochester, Minnesota.

“Cervical cancer screening is very important, but we are getting smarter at screening,” she says. “We are backing off from screening those that have less to gain from it.” The cervical guidelines, which recommend that sexually active teens still be counseled and tested for STDs (although a pelvic exam might not be necessary), “hit it right,” she says.

Health.com: How to protect yourself from STDs when your partner may be cheating

Teens who have received human papillomavirus vaccines, such as Gardasil, are protected against several HPV strains that are linked to many, but not all, cervical cancers and to genital warts. These types of vaccines may eventually reduce cervical cancer rates even further (rates have been dropping since the 1970s), although experts say the impact won’t be seen for 10 to 15 years. Therefore, girls and women given the HPV shot need to have Pap tests starting at age 21 and every two years after that, just like those who haven’t had the shot.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has added Gardasil to its routine childhood vaccine schedule. It recommends that Gardasil, which is administered in three doses, be given to all girls ages 11 and 12, and even for girls as young as 9, with catch-up doses for girls and women ages 13 to 26 who haven’t been vaccinated.

“We know that the HPV types targeted by the new vaccine are linked to cervical cancers that tend to occur five years earlier than cervical cancers caused by other HPV types,” Gostout says. “So once adolescents are well vaccinated against HPV, we should have even more confidence in eliminating Pap tests in younger women.”
